DOZENS of rail passengers refused to get off a train at Sevenoaks, in protest at Southeastern’s “unfair” prices.
Some 57 people boarded a train from London Bridge to Canterbury, but instead of paying the full £27.60 return fare, they bought tickets to Bromley then stayed on board the whole way.
Tamsin Omond, founder of protest organisers Climate Rush, said: “There were 200 people in London to see us off and we held a protest rally at the other end, which was super sweet.
“The route was chosen due to the high increase in fares for commuters on this line – the highest of any in the country.”
Protestors dressed up as characters from The Railway Children. Jenny Agutter, star of the 1970 film said: “Climate Rush must be commended for its involving and creative protest. The Government’s transport priorities are all wrong.”
