Special congratulations to Sevenoaks’s Bradbourne School, whose pupils have excelled in this year’s GCSE results.

Whee! Congratulations to our bright sparks in Sevenoaks
According to the Kent Council is has been another record year for Kent’s students, based on provisional figures. Some 77.7% of the county’s students achieved five A* to C grades this year – an increase of 4.7% on 2009 and 8.6%above the national average.
Over half of all students achieved the milestone of five GCSEs grade A* to C, including English and Maths. Kent has seen a year-on-year improvement since 1995 and has exceeded the national average for the last 13 years.
Our very own Bradbourne School is celebrating that 59% of its girls achieved five or more GCSEs at C or above including English and Maths – a 10% increase on last year’s figure.
Bradbourne continues to be the success story of Sevenoaks’ secondary schools, and it is hoped that the struggling Wildernesse boys’ school – itself a ‘National Challenge School’ will be brought up to Bradbourne's level when the two combine to become the Knole Academy on 1 September.
Wildernesse, a notoriously low-scoring school with many known problems has itself achieved a great success with a 9% rise to 34% of pupils achieving five grades A* to C, including English and Math.
Sarah Hohler, Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, said:
"Kent students have excelled themselves once again. There will undoubtedly be celebrations in many households and rightly so. Each year we expect more and more from our young people and every time they rise to the challenge.
“It is a proud day for them, their schools and everyone at Kent County Council. Their achievements will prepare them for a bright future be that in further education, employment or training. I congratulate all students and wish them every success in the future.”
