February 2012 marks the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen's Accession the Throne.
'Journey to the Throne' is a Celebration of that event, telling the story of the Queen and Our Times from 1926 - 1953, through drama, dance, music and photography. Participants, both young and old, from throughout the district were invited to tell their stories.
Princess Elizabeth of York, elder daughter of the shy, stammering, second son of George V, was never expected to become Queen Elizabeth II of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and her Dominions overseas - that is until her uncle, King Edward VIII, met a certain American divorcee - a Mrs Wallis Simpson.
