HOUSE-HUNTERS wanting to buy into the most expensive streets in Kent – with three of them in Sevenoaks – will be hard-pressed to fulfil their dreams.

Properties in the top-price band are at a premium as estate agents clammer for business.

Phillippines Shaw in Ide Hill and Wildernesse Avenue and Bayley’s Hill in Sevenoaks have all been named in the top 20 of the South East’s most expensive streets.

Phillippines Shaw came eighth in the Lloyds TSB bank survey, with the average house price at £2,352,000.

Last year a Halifax poll had the development as being the fifth most expensive in the country, outside of London.

The average price of a home in Wildernesse Avenue is put at £2,275,000 and in Bayley’s Hill at £1,799,000.

All three sites play second fiddle to places in Surrey with Virginia Water, Esher and Leatherhead leading the way.

This week just one property was for sale in Bayley’s Hill, according to www.findaproperty.com/kent

Redwings House, a five- bedroom property on the books of both Knight Frank and Jackson Stops, is estimated at £1.675 million.

Jackson Stops director Jill Mitchenall said: “People like Bayley’s Hill because it is close to Sevenoaks town centre, but feels like it is in the middle of the country.

“It is usually people who work in the City who buy there.

“We completed a sale in November for £2.6million. Redwings has been with us since November and has had a nice amount of interest.

“The market, post-Christmas, is still slow but I think it will start getting busy from now until April.”
