Aaaand relax. School’s back in, so let your hair down

It’s been six long weeks of dodgy weather, sibling meltdowns and yelling, but finally the little darlings are back at school and we’re back at work.

Best budget pampering

Although Sevenoaks is notoriously expensive compared with some neighbours, you can still tap into top notch treatments for a recession-friendly fee.

The high street salons will often need to charge a bit more to cover the cost of their premium spot, so look outside the centre for bargains.

Hilden Park Health Club in nearby Hildenborough has a beauty room open on Wednesday, Thursday (late opening), Friday and Saturday.

Lotus Health & Beauty in the High Street is one that bucks the trend and offers a wide range of treatments at very reasonable prices. While you can get yourself waxed, plucked and scrubbed, a far gentler option is one of the Thai massage (an hour and 15 minute foot massage is just £45).

For £35, men and women can book in for an ‘express’ 30-minute Flash Beauty Treatment designed to relax you and reinvigorate your face.

Get a new ‘do

If the summer hols has seen you tearing your hair out, why not give what’s left a little TLC?

We have the super trendy Toni & Guy in the High Street, where you can get a sharp new cut or bold colouring to cut through the gloom of the impending winter. For a budget option, ask about the trainee nights where for a nominal fee a competent trainee crimper (with a supervisor) will create something special. Call 01732 740092 to book.

In the lovely village of Otford, a short drive past Sainsbury’s on Otford Road is Hair, which actually offers beauty treatments as well as hair dressing services.

Hair has been trusted with the local heads of hair since 1972 and has a lovely atmosphere, away from the buzz of the main town centre. Prices aren’t too steep (cut and blow dry starts at £25 for a stylist up to £46 from a Salon Director) and foil highlights start from £67.

For little ones too

Beautique on London Road offer a brilliant package for little ones to join their mums for a special treat. The Little Miss Beauty Treatments start at £10 for a mini-manicure and £14 for a mini facial.  Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.

Of course, the accompanying adult could always indulge in a 30-minute mini-facial for £29 while they wait...
