Call Me Crazy is a comedy which tackles some serious issues on mental health. The Author, psychologist Paula J. Caplan, Ph.D., based the play on her book, 'They Say You're Crazy: How the World's Most Powerful Psychiatrists Decide Who's Normal. Call Me Crazy won second prize in the Arlene and William Lewis National Playwriting Contest for Women and an award from the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts. It was a sell out in New York City in a production by Sage Theatre and it received a rave review in the "Off-Off-Broadway Review' One of Paula's favorite comments from an audience member after a performance of the play was, "It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me think."
The play is in aid of Sevenoaks Area Mind and the full price of every ticket will be donated to the charity to support people with mental health problems. It will be performed by the Stairways Theatre Company and is supported by Sevenoaks District Council and West Kent NHS Trust.
