The new roundabout in Dunton Green- is there really any point?
Was this a project for year 6 pupils before they left primary school?
Were the team, sent to design this, playing a game of place the X ?
Could this dot in the road have been put in a worse place?
How much money has been spent on this debacle and how much more to put it right?
Unbelievable!

TOTALLY agree. It is a danger and a mark of stupidity on the face of the local area. But I suppose that is what you get when you order a roundabout sponsored by Picasso!

I couldn't agree more. It's almost like someone was playing a giant game of pin the tale on the donkey. Each time I approach it I have to check myself to ensure I'm not drunk.

Since this was originally posted the situation has got even worse! Surely it cannot take so long to finish this project and get rid of the traffic lights for good. I also see that there is an entrance to someones drive right on the roundabout is this sensible?
My sister tells me that the roundabout made the national press recently so it's obviously not just the locals that think it is mad.
I wonder if there were any penalty clauses in the contract if it wasn't finished on time.

I think the problem is that there is so much time between when these road layouts are designed and when they actually come to fruition that the person or company whose fault it was is long gone. Look at the M25, it was meant to ease traffic congestion. Now not a day goes by without some kind of major hold up and/or road works to widen it because the original designers got their sums of how many cars would be using it completely wrong. Then there is the end of the A21 dual carriageway at the bottom of Castle Hill up to Pembury. Whose bright idea was it to have another road coming in to a major carriageway from the side? This means there is always a hold up at peak times and very often other times as well just through SWOT (sheer weight of traffic). Then there is the total confusion of lane markings at the Knockholt Roudabout by the slip road entrance to the M25 with other roads going off to the Bromley, Orpington, Knockholt station and Well Hill. Drivers unfamilar with the area have no idea of which lane they should be in. If any of us made these sort of cocks up in our work we would be rightly chastised or even sacked. But I bet these road designers have moved on and are making similar cock ups else where now.
