Today's Chronicle refers (p.14) to Michael Fallon having "revealed the Green Party had given him their support". Maybe misunderstood, garbled or mistranscribed. In any case, it is certainly not correct. The Green Party only backs Green candidates, and does not in any way support or endorse candidates of other parties.
Kent Greens are standing a record 11 candidates out of Kent's 17 constituencies. Ideally we'd have one in Sevenoaks too, but it didn't prove doable, and we wouldn't parachute someone in from outside the district. Personally I felt with regret forced to decline the chance to be candidate; having simply too many other commitments, the timing didn't work.
The Chronicle article understates the position on next year's district and town council elections. We fully expect to have Green candidates, and I very much want to be one of them (subject of course to selection).
Finally, I want to make clear that Transition Town activity is *not* party political. It is a community led project.
