A 102-year-old woman has been reunited with her walking frame, which had been callously snatched from outside her home just before Christmas

Freda McGregor called Kent Police after her frame went missing from her home off West Street in Wrotham on 21 December.

Without it, she had become housebound and appealed through local media for her frame's return.

On Monday 7 January, a postman discovered it in Kemsing Road, Wrotham and returned it to the warden at her sheltered accommodation block.

PC Ben Foskett from Kent Police's Tonbridge and Malling Neighbourhood Policing Unit has since examined it for forensic evidence and enquiries continue.

He also thanked members of the public and local businesses who had previously contacted both local media and Kent Police directly with offers to help Mrs McGregor.

As a result of those offers, Mrs McGregor received a replacement frame from a business in Westbrook.

PC Foskett said: "I'd like to thank all those who offered to help, and thank the postman who returned the missing frame.

"It was a bit battered and the basket was missing, which is why the new one is so much better."

Anyone who knows anything about the incident can still contact Kent Police on 101 quoting reference number YY/024120/12.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
