Residents are being offered free health checks and advice as part of World Diabetes Day on Wednesday 14 November.
The event is organised by Sevenoaks District Council
Local organisations have teamed up to support the event which will take place between 10.30am and 3pm at the Lodge Coffee Shop in the Stag Community Arts Centre, Sevenoaks.
There are currently 28,900 people living in West Kent diagnosed with diabetes, a figure that is estimated to rise above five million by 2025.
This health event, organised by Sevenoaks District Council in partnership with NHS West Kent, aims to help prevent the rise in diabetes. Trained NHS health checkers will be available on the day to carry out free blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose testing. These services will be available without the need for appointments and residents are urged to just turn up on the day.
Diabetes UK voluntary groups and the South East Coast Ambulance Service will also be on hand to provide general health information and details of services available for diabetics in West Kent.
A raffle will also be held with all funds raised being donated to Diabetes UK with a number prizes donated by local business owners.
Cllr Pat Bosley, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for healthy living, says: "With the persistent increase of diabetes amongst people in the UK, it is important to stress that with the correct medical advice and testing, diabetes can be an avoidable condition. Local people should take advantage of this opportunity to potentially prevent themselves against future health risks."
World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2007, with the date being chosen to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who was instrumental in the discovery of insulin in 1922.
