Station Approach in Dunton Green appears to have become a breeding ground for estate agent signs advertising properties for sale or to let.

Some locals think they are becoming a bit of an eyesore, but believe little can be done to restrict the erection of the signs?

It is understood that currently there are no laws to prevent signs being put up in the Sevenoaks district but a couple of years ago the Government granted Hastings and Brighton powers to restrict the use of To let and For Sale signs along their beach fronts.

Agents were required to get permission from their local authorities before erecting boards on properties facing the sea in an attempt to stop the high number that were being put up ruining the appearance of the area

It meant that the automatic right to erect boards was taken away and instead letting and sales agents had to go through the Council's planning department.

A move like this may also prevent the almost comic situation recently when a man went into an estate agents purely to make tentative enquiries about selling his house and by the time he got home he found a 'For Sale' sign had already been put outside the property.

Do you think it's about time a limit on the number, or the time these signs are allowed to stay was introduced? Or don't you care?
