Sevenoaks District Council has drawn up a new Conservation Area Management Plan for the village as part of its ongoing work to protect the environment.
The plan will help preserve the village's heritage by protecting existing historic or architecturally important buildings and ensuring new developments are sympathetic to the surrounding area. It also offers greater protection to trees, open spaces and items of historic or archaeological interest within the village.
Cllr Jill Davison, the Council's Cabinet Member for planning, said: "The Chipstead Conservation Area Management Plan will ensure the village retains its historic built heritage for generations to come, and any new developments are in harmony with the rest of the village."
The local community and businesses were invited to comment on the draft plan.
Chipstead village conservation area was agreed at the Council's Cabinet on Thursday 13 October 2011.
The conservation area appraisal can be viewed by logging on to the Sevenoaks District Council website and clicking through to the conservation pages or by clicking here.
