With the New Year underway along with resolutions affecting our health and weight, Sevenoaks residents are being given a chance to have a free check up at Sevenoaks Library on Saturday, 28 January from 10am to 3pm.

There is no need to book for the event. Simply turn up and choose from a range of activities on offer, which include:

* Cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) checks.

* Live cooking demonstrations by a community chef who will show new and exciting ways to prepare meals and the importance of healthy eating.

*Making a healthy drink on the famous 'smoothie bike'.

* Information on healthy eating, useful websites and advice on 'grow your own' fruit and vegetables will be available on the day. The library will also provide computer taster sessions and information on volunteering.

Gym instructors from Sencio will also be on hand to provide fitness demonstrations.

Cllr Pat Bosley the Council's member for healthy living, said: "The free health day gives residents a chance to take their first steps towards a better lifestyle by helping them to make informed, healthier choices."

The health day has been organised by Sevenoaks District Council in partnership with Sevenoaks Library.
