New lower speed limit planned for Sevenoaks Road
By SevenoaksHol | Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 15:53
The speed limit on the Polhill and London Road between Morants Court roundabout in Dunton Green and the roundabout at Badgers Mount will be restricted to 50mph if Kent County Council (KCC) plans are given the go ahead.
-
A 50mph limit could soon be impossed from the Morants Court roundabout (pictured) to the top of Polhill at Badgers Mount,
Drivers are often accused of travelling too fast along this stretch of road, particularly on the two lane carriage going up the hill.
KCC says it has consulted with police and believe a 50mph limit along the A224 Polhill and London Road is in the interest of public safety for all road users.
The plans and the reasons for the proposal can be examined during normal office hours at the Sevenoaks District Council Offices in Argyle Road, Sevenoaks or at the KCC offices at Sessions House in Maidstone.
Anybody who wants to support or object to the proposal should write to Laura Squires at Kent County Council Highways, Javelin Way, Ashford, TN24 8AD or by e-mail to: TRO@kent.gov.uk by noon on 16th January 2012.

I was going to say something similar. I always think it must be frightening for cyclists going slowly up the hill when they are passed by cars and lorries going about 70mph, but you are right, they don't do themselves any favours when they cycle up there side by side.

ReportV.good idea. One of the most dangerous roads in Kent...especially for cyclists who selfishly ride side by side up and down the hill!
